Not even email. Usenet is almost identical to Lemmy. There are many Usenet servers which talk to each other and synchronize their message groups. And you connect to one of them with a local account.
IRC as well but more chat like.
Of course there are differences in the fediverse but the big concepts are hardly new. People are trying to overcomplicate it.
Have you tried befriending anyone other than that cat? I mean, actual people may be easier to explain such concepts to, and given even a hardened introvert such as myself managed to make a few human friends along the way, it’s not that hard of a task…
I don’t have too many friends(humans XD) but i always try to bring them here.
I have a difficult time understanding why people have difficulty understanding the fediverse and its otherverse islands. Lol
I don’t known but they just don’t understand. Maybe more i have to try over simplified version like magic. 😆
I mean, they’ve seen it before.
