Because every developer uses the exact same processes and holds themselves to the exact same standards right?
Way to out yourself as someone who’s only read about the industry.

They just need to change everything about how they design and create the games to fit the new model.
Are you implying you would be teaching that man how to walk?
When you help someone on a computer, they come along with you too, just like the blind guy. And just like the blind guy, them coming along with you does not mean they will be able to do it themselves next time, or that they want to do it alone next time.
This sounds a lot like “only my perspective is correct” type stuff.
I think what you are describing is teaching not helping. Helping someone is just doing the thing they need help with and thats it. Its not a prerequisite that someone learn something if your goal is just to help them but it is if your goal is to teach them something.
It is nice when people share your interests and want to learn but everyone’s got their own stuff going on and sometimes can’t make room for something new like that.
Not really sure which point you are making.
I have no idea what thanksgiving meant hundreds of years ago. I’m aware that the natives and colonizers did not get along great back then but that has nothing to do with thanksgiving today.
Today, its generally about getting together and having a nice meal and giving thanks (being positive).
Also, the day being worthless for you, only affects you. It still has worth for everyone else who assign it worth. You haven’t stumbled upon some universal fact, its just an opinion.
You likely could find people who share your opinion and get together with them and all have some sort of Thanksgiving group debate if you’d like.
I’m not sure Thanksgiving counts as staying in touch, but family gatherings are meant to be inclusive, and Thanksgiving specifically is for setting aside differences (theoretically at least).
I suppose it depends what you mean by deradicalizing them? I’d say calling them names is a bad start but maybe you are more polite in person.
Sort of true! If the benefits outweigh the negatives, cannabis can be more like medicine, but I will admit most dont look at it that way no matter if its beneficial or not.
It honestly seems like the focal point of the whole thing.
Changing relatives minds can be far more difficult than changing strangers minds. I would not hold it against an activist who doesnt argue with family. Also thanksgiving is not the time for it really, its easier to deflect into silly jokes or tangents that have nothing to do with politics, and then say bye see you next year.
By already being used to being stoned, most likely.
Also the paranoia and anxiety doesnt happen to everyone. Some people want the loss of control to a degree, and the spontaneity it can bring to social situations.
Probably depends on whether you need to hide it or not as well. Here its legal and noone cares if I go smoke on the porch and come back in.
Yeah the ants are annoying, they seem to come through my house every so many years during summer. You see one and then realize theres a whole bunch of them all over. They can be tricky to deal with.
I won’t defend mosquito’s though, they are the worst.
Well mainly because most bugs aren’t doing anything harmful. Those removal services are to prevent damage or harm that can occur. A spider hanging out in the rafters is not hurting anyone. If the visual of a spider and a web is a problem then relocating them seems to be most reasonable.
If you have a line of ants show up, figure out where they are coming from and plug it, and then trap the ants and put them out side.
The question shouldnt be why let them live, in my opinion. It should be why should we kill that specific bug or five bugs or ten. Even a lot of those businesses that remove bugs and animals will do so non-lethally if possible. They can move whole nests in some cases
I understand you have a fear but it can’t be healthy to alleviate that fear by killing the cause of it whether its justified or not.
It can range in time for people thats for sure. Theres also different quality of learning. Its very important not to accidentally learn mistakes. It takes time and effort to build a habit.
I think you are trying to make the statement here that you have a justifiable fear of bugs, and that you are permitted to kill them on sight because of it.
This is essentially the justifiable racism defense but with bugs. Would you argue the same way about say a minority group if you had been victimized by minorities repeatedly as a child?
Obviously you aren’t saying racist things here, but you are saying there is a whole group of living things that you kill on sight because you had some bad experiences with them many years ago.
Okay but adults can choose to undo a bad habit. It doesnt take that long, maybe a month. It helps to learn about the bugs and what they do, how they live.
If I were in your shoes I think the accidental mouse killing would have been a catalyst for that. Ive never killed an animal though and I’m already vegan, so theres no way to know for sure.
How impulsive of you.
We already feed cats what we want them to eat, you realize this, right?
Go look what’s in canned cat food and tell me which of it a cat would be eating if it was a wild cat. You’d have to generalize pretty hard and still all you’d be able to say is “they both would be eating meat”.
This whole issue is about whether its dangerous to have that discussion on a discussion board specifically for that topic.
Its very telling that I can have this discussion in my veterinarians office with the staff there and have a markedly different experience than the average person here accusing vegans of harming cats.
I think so but only because I think most people didnt think discussing possible healthy vegan diets for pets was a taboo subject.
To be fair though lemmy.world wasnt ever supposed to be some respected scientific resource, its a discussion board.
Ultimately its up to the admin to set their rules, but in my opinion they reacted immaturely, and I think it shows somewhat of an ego problem.
Or maybe you are being dense, who knows.
